Our goal is for you to be prominent, not the clothes so simplicity is the key to a successful portrait. Busy patterns and loud colors can be very distracting in your portraits. Avoid large and bold patterns that might tend to draw attention away from you. Long sleeve, solid colors are usually the most flattering in portraits. Coordinate your outfit from head to toe. Get a good night’s rest, relax and be ready for a great portrait session!

Studio

Medium to dark clothes look the best on dark backgrounds. Medium to light colors look the best on lighter backgrounds. Also, dark clothes minimize body size. Keep the tonal range of clothing in the same group this makes a more time-lasting image. Solid whites make wonderful portraits on our beautiful white background.

Outside

Earth tones, along with most greens, do great outside. Always remember to dress from head to toe. Leave the more casual for outside and the more formal for inside.

Seniors

Choose a variety of outfits. It’s a good idea to include both casual and more formal outfits. You choose a couple and let Mom choose one or two, that way everyone is happy. If you are unsure of an outfit, but love it, bring it and let the photographer decide for you.

Hair and Makeup

Ladies and guys do not try out a new hairstyle or cut right before your portrait session. Makeup, wear what you normally wear but remember to bring it with you. Lipsticks and gloss;stay away from bright and very dark colors as they tend to distract from you. This also holds true with fingernail polish.
